About

This is a blog about non-profit development in a Canadian context including grant writing, volunteer management, capacity building, board practices and fundraising ideas.

Fundchasing exists to fill a gap that I've noticed in our Canadian charitable sector - which is not enough information that is relatable to our nation's needs and trends such as deadlines for grants, or grants that are specific for Canadian charities, or even the way volunteering works in a Canadian context (how many times have I said Canadian?!). Our non-profit sector can be very fickle and at times stressful, but it is my aim to provide readers with recent and relevant information that can help grow and strengthen organizations.

While there may be tons of content out there already on fundraising and non-profit development, I'm sharing one of many paths you can take to achieve success. After all, fundraising is about creativity, and creativity comes from getting ideas from others and making them customizable, making them better, and making them your own.

I've started the blog merely to share my ideas and personal journey in fundraising and non-profit development for small and medium charities, and I'm in no way claiming my suggestions are the best or ONLY way to achieve results. In fact, my unconventional and incredibly honest attitude towards fundraising and non-profit development may leave you bewildered and possibly chuckling at each post's end. Plus, it's paired with a bonus of non-profit humour through the Some Ecards I create for each post! :)

If you're a fundraiser and you're reading this blog, I intend to lend a virtual shoulder to you and express brutally honest thoughts that you don't dare say, because let's face it, we're all thinking the same thing! We'll share information, lose hair, sleep, blood, sweat, tears (and a bit of our minds) and at the end of the year, be wholeheartedly satisfied that we were able to contribute to some form of positive social change in our community.

... Then start all over again for the next fiscal year.

So I invite you to subscribe, follow me on Twitter (@fundchasing) and learn more about the seemingly crazy yet rewarding world of the non-profit sector.

Please feel free to comment on today's blog post. I welcome all opinions, suggestions and feedback--both good and bad--because frankly, fundraisers are desensitized to negativity. Thank you for reading!
